“VMFT-401: The Corps’ Adversary Squadron”

This article gives an overview of VMFT-401, the Marine Corps’ adversary squadron. Flying the F-5 Tiger, VMFT-401 provides realistic training to the Fleet Marine Force by employing “red” tactics. I had the pleasure of spending a couple of days with the Marines and civilians of VMFT-401 in the Fall of 2022, at their home at Marine Corps Air Station Yuma, Arizona. I’m grateful for their hospitality and help with this story!

The article was awarded the 2024 General Roy S. Geiger Award from the Marine Corps Heritage Foundation.
